External-Pressure Structure for Axial Compensation

An Externally Pressurized Metal Expansion Joint consists of an externally pressurized bellows and an outer casing. The bellows operates under external pressure and is mainly used for larger axial displacement or piping systems with specific bellows stability requirements.
The compensation direction is axial. Stainless steel and alloy materials are available. Depending on the process and installation conditions, the structure can also include internal-flow guidance, drainage, or protective components.
Compared with a conventional internally pressurized structure, the bellows works under a different force direction. This arrangement can support bellows stability when the product requires a longer corrugated section or larger axial movement.
Long-Distance Thermal Pipeline Applications
This product is commonly used in long-distance thermal pipelines, steam lines, and hot-water systems. The bellows extends and compresses inside the outer casing to absorb axial thermal movement.
The casing provides external protection for the corrugated structure. An internal-flow component may be added according to the direction of the medium. A drainage component can also be configured when condensation or a specific discharge arrangement must be considered.
Before ordering an Externally Pressurized Metal Expansion Joint, the purchaser should provide the design pressure, design temperature, medium, pipe diameter, axial movement, installation space, and connection method.
If the system contains condensate or requires a specific drainage position, this information should be confirmed before production. The product length, number of convolutions, and casing dimensions must be designed according to the actual axial compensation requirement rather than selected only by nominal pipe diameter.
Casing and Non-Standard Component Production
The factory has experience with metal bellows, externally pressurized structures, and pipeline compensators. Non-standard lengths and interface arrangements can be developed according to thermal pipeline parameters.
Manufacturing capabilities include hydroforming, sheet metal bending, automatic longitudinal seam welding, argon arc welding, laser cutting, and pressure testing.
The factory has a 200-ton hydraulic sheet bending machine with a processing length of up to 4,000 mm. It can be used to manufacture casings and related non-standard metal structural parts.
Before production, the technical team can confirm the bellows structure, casing length, medium-flow direction, drainage position, and connection dimensions. Inspection is arranged during forming, welding, assembly, and finished-product checking. Production parameters and batch traceability are also included in the quality-control process.
Orders, Packaging, and Warranty
This product is suitable for long-distance thermal pipelines, steam pipelines, hot-water systems, energy projects, and installations with relatively large axial thermal movement.
OEM and ODM production according to technical drawings is available. The minimum order quantity is one piece, supporting new projects, pipeline modifications, and replacement purchases.
Customized production normally requires two to three months. Special alloys, larger dimensions, or projects requiring dedicated tooling should be scheduled according to the actual structure.
Photos or videos can be provided during manufacturing. Every product is inspected before packaging, and third-party inspection is supported. Wooden cases or small packages are available.
If transportation damage is found after delivery, repair or a small replacement shipment may be arranged according to the situation. A six-month industry warranty is provided.
