Stainless Steel Expansion Joint Bellows

The Stainless Steel Expansion Joint Bellows is the main flexible element inside a metal expansion joint. It is designed to absorb movement caused by temperature changes, installation deviation, or mechanical operation in piping and equipment systems.

The bellows can be configured for axial, lateral, or angular compensation. Its corrugation profile, effective number of convolutions, and overall length must be determined according to the required movement, pipe diameter, working pressure, operating temperature, and expected operating cycles.

Available materials include 304, 316, 316L, and 321 stainless steel, as well as alloy materials. Both single-ply and multi-ply structures are available. End connections may include end pipes, flanges, or a completed assembly prepared for installation.

This product differs from a general-purpose flexible bellows because its structure is developed around a defined piping movement and force condition.

For axial compensation, the thermal movement along the pipeline centerline should be confirmed. For lateral compensation, the purchaser should consider equipment interface misalignment, required movement, and the available structural length. For angular compensation, the pipe turning direction and support arrangement must be reviewed.

The Stainless Steel Expansion Joint Bellows may also be combined with an internal sleeve, tie rods, or protective components according to the system requirements. These parts should be specified during the design stage rather than added without checking the complete expansion joint structure.

Before ordering, the purchaser should provide the process medium, design pressure, design temperature, compensation direction, required movement, expected cycles, and connection dimensions. Selecting the product only according to the pipe diameter may result in an unsuitable structure.
